Couture Gone Wrong:Take 1
The awards season officially began last night with the Primetime Emmy Awards, and as always the red carpet abounded with fashion horrors.
I don't think that Tracy Gold could possibly look more squat. The straps on that dress are not being utilized in any productive manner; her boobs desperately need a good lift. The color is horrendous, and I'm sorry but who wears a dropped waist? So unflattering, and don't even get me started on the hem. Yuck.
The only thing more ridiculous than this dress is Paula's unintelligible ramblings during interviews on the red carpet. The woman needs medication.
Looks like Vanessa Minnilo has decided to recycle one of her old pageant dresses . There is nothing couture about this dress. It looks cheap and tacky. So over the top-like a bad prom dress, I'm sure you could probably find this creation at your local Dillard's.

Designer Lust of the Day...
I'll admit it: I'm a sucker for a peeptoe pump; consequently, I am completely enamored with these unusual heels by shoe-designer/extraordinaire Holly Dunlap.

The combination of a deep-purple upper with the chocolate croc-embossed heel is stunning, and being the consumate girly-girl the bow at the ankle seals it. I'm in love.

Sorry It's been so long since I've posted. I've recently experienced a rather unexpected loss; consequently, my posting has suffered. I will get back to it as soon as possible. I hope I haven't let you down.

Jill Stuart Fall Ads
I am endlessly fascinated by designer ads, so I've decided to do a series of posts on fall fashion advertising. And we begin with Jill Stuart. I saw these in the september issue of Teen Vogue, and I found the model to be especially breathtaking: so subtle yet impactful.

My Inspiration of the Day
It seems like I sing the same sad tune every year, but I simply cannot believe it. Where has the summer gone? August is almost over, and Fashion Week is just around the corner, but instead of lamenting I have decided to live it up. I'm going to enjoy every second that remains in this most glorious of seasons. So this, of course, explains my inspiration for today. Deseo que el verano podría durar por siempre! (I wish summer could last forever.)

My Model Crush of the Week: Sophie Vlaming.
As I was scouring the web for my new model crush I came across Sophie, and I was incredibly excited. To be honest, the eyebrows seduced me; they're perfect. She has a flawless face, and this year she has done some incredible editorial work. So here we go.

The (Notso)Many faces of Keith Michael...
I'll admit it, I am a huge Project Runwaynerd; frankly I'm obsessed. Sometimes I watch the show and I feel like I missed my calling. The fact that I cannot draw or sew has definitely put an end to those dreams, because as you know those skills are absolutely crucial to design, but whatever, enough about me.

So Imagine my delight when I came across the the website of the infamous Keith Michael, and in the words of Nina Garcia "I'm Underwhelmed". Though I loathed Keith from the moment he appeared on my television screen; his designs on the show were incredibly strong, but these clothes are dreadful, lifeless, dull, unoriginal, {insert another appropriate adjective here}. They simply add further credence to the allegations of foul play on the show.
Come on! Is he serious with the beige? Yuck.

Okay, so the jacket/dress is kind of cute, but everything else is pretty lame.

Eyesore of the day...

I'm not wonderfully sure what this is supposed to be. It looks like a choir robe, but I believe that it's a dress. The worst thing is that someone has actually purchased this. Somewhere in the world somebody is wearing this monstrosity, and they probably think that they look good. If What Not to Wear has taught me anything it's that people with terrible style usually don't know; consequently, I request that Yoox.com cease and desist in the selling of this garment. It's for the greater good.

Designer Lust of the Day: Jimmy Choo Sandals

These Jimmy Choo slingbacks are positively gorgeous. The gold fabric is perfectly sophisticated and possesses the perfect amount of shimmer.

Versace Does it Again
Donatella Versace has once again opted to put a celebrity in her ads, but I still can't understand why she does it. Is this her M.O.? Does she befriend the rich and famous by offering them a place in her not-so-chic ads. Well, whatever it is, it's not working. I'm officially over it. Her newest campaign, which features Jonathan Rhys Meyers, is so blah and boring that it's painful. The sheer unoriginality is enough to make me ill. Is this the best that can be done: a black suit with glasses and boots. Oh, and let's not forget the leather pants. It's all just so wrong. I'll let them speak for themselves, though be forewarned; they don't say much.

Still awake? I told you they were boring.

Ding Dong, the Witch is Dead!
I really wasn't surprised that Keith got booted for breaking numerous PR rules; including having fashion how-to books in his possession, leaving production without permission, and using the internet without permission. This entire situation is just so sleazy, and now I'm super skeptical of every single garment that he's made on the show. I simply cannot believe that he he won the first challenge and that was supposedly his first dress ever. yeah right. I feel like Laura; I'm glad to see him go, now if only Angela were next.

My Model Crush of the Week: Caroline Winberg
Lately I've been exceedingly fascinated by blondes, so I present to you Caroline Winberg. If you follow models at all, I'm sure that you're familiar with her; she's practically a superstar.

Next week there'll be bit of diversity I promise.

Coutorture giveaways: 'cause everyone wants to be a winner

I don't know how I forgot to post this yesterday, but as of Sunday I am now a full fledged member of the Courtorture blogging network. I could not be more excited, I've been a fan for awhile and now its such an honor to be a member.

My Designer Lust of the Day
This adorable halter dress by Abaete is perfect for summer, and I'm currently infatuated with the new pockets-in-dresses trend. I love that it has the sexy v neck but it's not skanky.

Eyesore of the day: Jean Paul Gaultier Puffy Shirt

This blouse by JPG is so ridiculous that is looks like a costume; like a reject from Pirates of the Carribean. Not to mention the hideous school marm bowtie around the neck. It's even more hideous than Jerry's blouse on the "Puffy Shirt" episode of Seinfeld. Ughh!

Sometimes designers just get it wrong, but thats not to say that the puffy shirt can't be cute. I quite like this one by Marc Jacobs. The effect is achieved without looking over-the-top.
