Armani Prive Couture Collection

Armani has received much publicity as of late because of his unsolicited musings on David Beckham's improbable film career and because pictures of his most famous clients are constantly being crammed down our throats. The Actress Formerly Known as Katie and the Poshbot will undoubtedly be dipping into Armani's latest couture collection because it's actually quite wearable.

Armani did what Armani does best: sleek sophisticated styles peppered with an heir of maturity. Speaking of mature, is it just us, or has Kate Holmes been dressing like your mother recently? Just a thought.

The Look:

  • asymmetrical/one-shoulder blouses and dresses

  • metallics-gunmetal gray, champagne, iridescent blue

  • crystal embellishments reminiscent of the ubiquitous Elie Saab.

Couture look that we most definitely will not be wearing: the granny style babushkas. Impactful yet dreadful.

Grade: 7/10. Loved the splashy elder stateswomanesque suits. The best part about the collection was the accessories, the crocodile d'Orsays are too die for.

More L.Lo for Miu Miu
These look a bit more like our little lost Lohan. They're actually quite pretty. Pulling off fuschia lipstick ain't easy, and those baby blue mary janes are adorable.

Question of the Day
Jessica Simpson was recently spotted in Los Angeles with new beau, the formerly hot, John Mayer sporting the most inexplicably disgusting fashion faux-pas: the sideboob. This is a look that I've seen on Lindsay Lohan as well--no surprise there--and in a few S/S 07 runway collections, but of course models don't have boobs, so it just looks like a low cut dress. Here's the question of the day: Who thinks that this is sexy? I don't care how fantastic your boobs are, no one wants to see your boob oozing out of the side of your top.

Inspiration of the Day...

Question(s) of the day

  • Is the skinny pant officially dead (we would certainly be glad to see it go)
  • Is the bubble hem wearable? (We've never seen a nonsupermodel pull it off)

UPDATE
Naomi Campbell has artfully proven that even super models can look woefully awkard in a bubble dress. Who Knew? Oh, how the might have fallen.

Fabulosity on a Budget

Let's be honest, we all want to dress like the rich and fabulous. But unless you run in the circles of Tinsley Mortimer or Julia Restoin Roitfeld, buying all of those designer must haves is simply out of the question. Well, fashionistas fret no more, because new websites like Borrowedbling.com, Bagborroworsteal.com and LoveMeandLeaveMe.com let you rent--yes i did say rent--that which you desire. Here's how it works. You can borrow luxe handbags, jewelry, and other accessories for a monthly fee (ranging from $9.95 to $175) .Vanity aside, these sites are incredibly practical for special events. What's the point of buying that super expensive evening bag that you can only wear once? Why drop $2,000 on the newest LV bag when it will be obsolete next season? This, my friends, is why we love the internet.

Crimes Against Fashion: Beyonce Edition
We have been bamboozled. Pop superstar Beyonce Knowles led us to believe that she had style; however, recently, it has become abundantly clear that Ms. Knowles, is in fact, style challenged. Just look at the monstrosity that she wore to the Golden Globes.

But what sealed the deal, in our eyes, was this creation; worn to an event in paris yesterday. All we can say is: seriously, wtf? from the ridiculous sleeves to the uneccesary cleavage it's horrendous.

Honey, You're Just Paid to Pose
Uber hot supermodel, Giselle Bundchen, has unfortunately decided to weigh in on the anorexia debate. The former flame of Leo Dicaprio (wow, how'd she screw that one up?) is blaming parents for the rise of eating disorders.

I never suffered from this problem (anorexia) because I had a very strong family base. Parents are responsible, not the fashion industry,"
Someone wasn't doing their job when they let Giselle open her mouth and spew this foolishness. It has been proven that the fashion industry perpetuates unachievable standards of beauty. Not to say that rail thin models are inherently evil, but the fact of the matter is that the general population is affected by these images. We salute any attempt to dispel these myths like Dove's campaign for real beauty. I'm sure you've seen this commercial before, but it wouldn't hurt to post it again.

Create Your Own LookBooks @ Style.com

Style.com has launched a new feature where fashionistas around the world can share their own custom created lookbooks, as well as browse the lookbooks of others. You can assign unique tags to each of your selections and comment on them as well. Warning: You shouldn't visit the site unless you've got some free time on your hands. We inadvertently wasted several hours dissecting the style selections of others.

Lindsay Lohan For Miu Miu
I'm not a L.Lo fan...(AT ALL), but these aren't the most shiteous celebrity adverts I've ever seen. You can't even tell it's her. Cute wig...

We Totally Agree...
The delightfully vicious Mr.Blackwell has released his annual 'Worst Dressed Women List', and guess who landed on top. None other than the former BFFs themselves: the 'dynamic duo' of Britney Spears and Paris Hilton.

Perpetual party girl, Lindsay Lohan also made the list. Blackwell cleverly notes that the 'Mean Girls' star has gone from 'adorable to deplorable'; we couldn't have said it better ourselves. Mariah Carey, Christina Aguilera and *gasp* Meryl Streep were also called out for their style faux-pas.

Time's Top Trends...

image via catwalkqueen
Well, those bastions of style over at time magazine have done it again; they've pinpointed the top ten must haves of 2006, and (surprisingly) they got it right.
1. Mini dresses-Yep, Yep, Yep

2. Skinny jeans- What can I say, even my mother threatened to buy a pair of skinny jeans. Enough Said.

3. Platform boots- Few of us can afford to sport those pricey Balenciaga boots, but among the young and hip they were the cat's pajamas.

4. Wide belts-I'm going to go out on a limb, and say that the wide belt is dead. Officially.

5. Ballet flats- Umm, ballet flats are old news now. Catch up, 'Time'.

6. Tunics- The tunic has been 'in' for quite awhile, but, yeah, I guess
they're in.

7. Brogue shoes- I'll be perfectly honest, I have no idea.

8. Thom Browne-The famed Menswear Designer was responsible for a style I like to call 'Geek Chic'; too-short pants and jackets are this hipsters staples.

9. Thomas Wylde- Though not a househould name, Wylde is credited with starting the skull and crossbones trend; I beg to differ.

10.Black Nail Polish- All serious fashionistas know that the hottest accessory this year wasn't the quilted Marc Jacobs bag or those sky high Christian Louboutins, but the coveted Chanel 'Black Satin' nail polish. Let me ask you: before the advent of 'black satin', had you ever heard of a 3-month waiting list for nail polish? Me neither, but I dutifully placed my name on that list, and I'm still waiting.

When Good Trends Go Bad...

Carmen Electra usually looks smoking hot, but she completely got it wrong this time. From the straggly hair, to the clunky boots. The newly single sexpot got it wrong in this hideous cream ensemble. The leather jacket and boots are just too severe for the demure dress.
